Balenos symbol

Balenos is one of the smallest territories in the game, north of Serendia and situated just south of the upper coastline.

It is the beginning area of the game, with many weak monsters scattered throughout the countryside. Despite this there are some areas which have powerful enemies that could easily kill a new player. Being so close to the coast, its major settlement and capital, Velia, is known as a farming village with connections to the sea which make it an ideal place for beginner fishermen. Balenos is also very abundant in resources such as horses, wood and farming goods.

The kingdom of Balenos was founded by an ancestor of the Bartali family after the fall of Cron Castle (its explosion killed the former king there, Agris III, as depicted in the murals of the Ancients). The Bartali family chose Velia[1] as their seat and to this day the chief of the Balenos territories is always from this family. The remains of the Bartali's are burried in the Velia ossuary. What is still known as the Balenos territory is currently under the rule of the Republic of Calpheon.

Notes & Trivia

  • While a territory and prior kingdom of its own, the current territory of Balenos does not seem to have any kind of centralized government nor armed forces.

  1. A bit of trouble here. It's said that Velia was the seat of the kingdom since the beginning (150y ago) but Olvia was at one point its capital, I guess 50y ago with the main events of the western alliance against Valencia and all that (check the timeline) and then for some reason it shifted to Velia again. Maybe to try to make it a big harbor? Or it's the capital of the region but maybe the kingdom (which is seemingly said to not exist nowadays) died with Olvia as its capital?
